MG Moving Services assisted Operation Homefront with their Back-to-School Brigade that prepares military children as they head back to school by providing them with backpacks and essential school supplies, as well as the opportunity to meet with a variety of vendors from tutors to nutritionists.
Over 750 military families in the DC Metro Area were helped by this year’s event, which exceeded expectations. Donations from community sponsors such as Dollar Tree and many others filled a 26′ moving truck. The 8000+ backpacks and school supplies were moved by MG Moving from Operation Homefront’s staging location in Sterling, VA to the Hilton Hotel in Springfield, Virginia.
The event that was held on Saturday, August 19th from 9AM-4PM, was open to military dependent children only who were enrolled in Kindergarten through 12th grade for the 2017-2018 school year with parent eligibility of active duty, E1-E6 or post 9/11 wounded, ill or injured, all ranks. The priority list was later relaxed to include active or inactive, guard or reserve military members. For future events, visit events.operationhomefront.org
